True Colors

I remember when I longed for friendship

Feeling lonely everyday walking into school alone

Even a simple friend is all I wanted

I'd cry inside when seeing others laugh to ones jokes

I thought having friends like that was everything

Mentally seeking out people to be around

Didn't know the true colors I've yet to see

My young brain assumed that's what I needed

Have a large amount of people to lean on

It still feels like that even today

In passing time, it isn't the amount of friends, I now say

It's being surrounded by those of wisdom

True colors are temporary,

Brother and sister like bonds are a lifetime...

...or can be.
