Plantations, however hard they try,

Will always be coastal.

Are you upset by how maritime they are?

Does it tear you apart to see the plantations so inshore?

I cannot help but stop and look at hardy plants.

Do plants make you shiver?

do they?

I cannot help but stop and look at wooly shrubs.

Are you upset by how muddled they are?

Does it tear you apart to see the shrubs so woolly-headed?

The conifer that's really zany,

Above all others is the pine.

Never forget the sappy and unreasonable pine.

Oaks, however hard they try,

Will always be beautiful.

Down, down, down into the darkness of the oaks,

Gently they go - the ravishing, the sublime, the awesome.

Pay attention to the shelterbelt,

the shelterbelt is the most cultivated hedgerow of all.

Does the shelterbelt make you shiver?

does it?
