Now here when I stand,

on the verge of my death,

I see you laughing,

I don't envy your laughter,

but I do fear your tears.

I fought with the droughts,

I had a battle with the floods,

I gave up my beauty for your shelter,

I sacrificed my children for your food.

You have eyes,

but you cannot see my pain.

You have ears,

but you cannot hear my cries.

And I have no eyes but,

I can still visualize your dreadful future.

And I have no ears but,

I can still hear that final bell ringing,

My worry is not my death.

but my concern is your life.
