To My Parents

Thank You

Thank you, Mom & Dad,

You brought me in,

Saved me from an unknown future.

Took me to a counselor,

Saved me from myself.

Sent me to church camp,

Saved me from a broken life.

Taught me everything,

Saved me from the mistakes of my past.

Made me switch back to private school,

Saved me from who I was becoming.

Bore my abrasive nature one day at a time,

Saved me from the feelings I didn’t fully understand.

Prompted me to go back to counseling,

Saved me from my broken heart.

Helped me work through my pain,

Saved me from my tortured mind.

Pieced me back together every time I fell apart,

Saved me from my crumbling resolve.

Broke down the walls I had put up to keep you out,

Saved me from my self-inflicted loneliness.

Worked with me,

Saved me from humiliation.

Showed me the love I desperately looked for,

Saved me from my own poor choices.

You saved me from an unknown future,

The day you decided to bring me into your family.

Thank you, Mom & Dad.

I love you,

More than I will ever be able to express.
