To Dance with Time

Thoughts on Life and Age

"Newlyweds" by Leonid Afremov

Let’s race towards the swiftly setting sun,

Embrace the winds that weather Earth’s sweet face

And in our dusk, we’ll dance and spin as one

Like silver swans, we’ll sway with timeless grace.

Let’s catch the fireflies by the great lagoon

And ride the coattails of old Father Time

We’ll kiss the milky face of Lady Moon;

Like her, we’re in an ever-changing prime.

The leaves, like rice thrown on a wedding day,

Fall swift in showers like a summer rain.

Their colors show we are within time’s sway;

Why run when we can choose to dance again?

The sea and stars are old but beautiful;

Why run from age and its predestined pull?
