Unimaginable Vastness

To go to Arlington Cemetery is to visit the ocean.
It’s white waters spread out across a sea of grass,
That ripples with the wind and lets out its mournful breath.
Miles unfold of wave after wave of white
untold stories buried beneath its waters.
Never to rise with their sunken ship.
To go to the Ocean is to visit space.
Once plunged under the liquid surface,
The void collects all sound.
It compiles air into helmets that float to the top,
Depriving astronauts of air.
Each second ensnared below Earth,
Afraid of what life could exist ticks away,
As more and more astronauts fade,
Their adventurous curiosity becomes a spark,
Igniting their star,
And they drift into the abyss.
To go to a vast expanse of nothingness
Is to catch a glimpse of Death.
