To a City of Sanctuary

I Hope You Find

To a City of Sanctuary

Refugees seeking refuge

Asylum Seekers seeking asylum

Over mountains and deserts

Over rivers and seas

You seek somewhere

Somewhere safe

A refuge

A place of safety

You find somewhere

I am sorry

It is despicable and unforgiving

This is when your battle truly begins

This place you have found

It is rejection and hate

No humanity here

I overcompensate

I feel so ashamed

To be part of this human race

You ARE welcome

WE welcome you to this hostile place

To a City of Sanctuary

I hope you find

A place where people like me ARE kind

Don't listen to the media

Or our so called Leaders

Don't listen to the haters

Listen to me...

Tell your stories

Of what you have overcome

And the journeys you have done

To open the hearts

To open the minds

To open the eyes

Of the ignorant blind

To a City of Sanctuary

I hope you find
