A Poem

Time is Ticking By

The minute hand travelled around the clock again

Another hour has passed

Sixty minutes without you here

I sit and watch

But time is ticking by.

I know you're not coming back

But I keep my phone close by

Hoping for one more text

One more "love ya kid"

One more sign that you're still here

But time is ticking by.

I keep waiting for the pain to ebb

Keep waiting for the tears to stop

Keep waiting to "get through it"

But time is ticking by.

Your grandson is so funny, so smart, so me

I want to send you all the pictures and videos

But I know I can't.

Because time has ticked by.

I'm forever grateful that you got to meet

That you held that little bundle

That we have photos together

It's all I have now

Because time has ticked by.
