The Wall

Our wall

The wall rose up before them, up into the clouds it went.

They all stood astonished, as to what this wall meant.

They saw nothing of what lay beyond, no person could they see.

Over time they stopped trying, and so let it be.

They lived their life’s in it’s shadow, and even revered it’s hue.

Forming groups to praise and care for it, doning robes of red and blue.

Soon they started to stone, all those that questioned it’s power.

“How dare they not believe, the truths, of the wall, the tower”

Louder and louder they yelled, to silence those that wondered,

“What there might be, beyond the wall.” they pondered.

Then one day a crack did appear, in the wall they held so dear.

Yet most dared not to look, to see what had always been so near.

Instead they thought to cover the crack, to live as they had before.

But the crack grew bigger, more and more saw what lay behind.

Now only the ones who would not see, stayed with the wall and all it meant.

The rest went with picks and hammers, and tore down the wall of lies.
