The Velvet Rose

She's the velvet rose Locked away for so long in the dark All that she's seen, nobody knows Hiding the pain, tucked away in her heart

She's been locked away in the darkness for so long

Her pedals are dusty and stained from the tears

You wouldn't know it but her stems are still strong

From a lifetime of sorrow and facing her fears

She's the velvet rose

Locked away for so long in the dark

All that she's seen, nobody knows

Hiding the pain, tucked away in her heart

Delicate are her thorns, they wont make you bleed

She reaches for the sunlight, just to feel it once more

Love and affection is all that she needs

Just bring back the life down deep in her core

She's the velvet rose

Locked away for so long in the dark

All that she's seen, nobody knows

Hiding the pain, tucked away in her heart

Her beauty has faded throughout all the years

Once so lovely, so delicate, and so proud

Secreted from the world, it slowly disappeared

Losing all of the promises she once proudly vowed

She's the velvet rose

Locked away for so long in the dark

All that she's seen, nobody knows

Hiding the pain, tucked away in her heart

She watches the rain on the window outside

Wrapping her leaves tightly, a warm, clever shroud

Each raindrop resemblant of the tears she has cried

And the storms that once broke her, she dishonorably bowed

She's the velvet rose

Locked away for so long in the dark

All that she's seen, nobody knows

Hiding the pain, tucked away in her heart

One day she will shine once again in the light

Her colors will flourish, her beauty will be known

A beacon warmly guiding you home in the night

Until then she will wait here in the dark all alone

She's the velvet rose

Locked away for so long in the dark

All that she's seen, nobody knows

Hiding the pain, tucked away in her heart

One day when you find her, please handle with care

She's fragile and frail from a damaging past

Just hold her close and tightly, say you'll always be there

Bathe her with mercy and a love everlast

She's the velvet rose

Locked away for so long in the dark

All that she's seen, nobody knows

Hiding the pain, tucked away in her heart
