The Tree Said to Me

Into the Forest, Into the Soul

Carve your initials into my side — I’ll bear this love long after you’ve both gone on.

Sit with me at my feet — I’ll listen to your heart and breathe life into your thoughts.

Walk beside me — I’ll cool you with a breeze and warm you with dancing sunshine.

Cast your eyes above me — I’ll paint the world with a million colors that light your soul on fire.

Climb into my arms — I’ll hold you up and show you the world you’ve yet to explore.

I’ll take care of you, the tree said to me, But who, it asked, is going to protect me?
