The Tear

A poem

The Tear
Photo by Mick Haupt on Unsplash

It starts off gracefully as a single entity, ready to transcend and accommodate eternity.

A barren canvas of endless potential, ready to be shaped and become essential.

It is accepting and pleasant, trusting and present.

It takes a smile and makes laughter, it resembles a fable much sought after.

But never too long until the core is split, waiting too eagerly to be found and quit.

A creeping tear revealing what was but hidden, waiting till the damage's done lest it's called unbidden.

What once was one, now is over and done.

What took darkness and made some light, never showed the gloom that's holding it tight.
