Memories fade

The Sieve

memories fade

but this one faded so quickly

it hurt me

one minute i was loved

and the next minute,

i went out after being alone

for too long

and i said

you said you would come back!

you forgot!

sorry, he said

only an hour had passed

but the last stretch of

the 15 minutes where

my heart yearned and cried

seemed like the longest car ride

in the hottest weather

with four flat tyres.

and i sit alone eating

while the abandonment lifts

sieving through my memory

of the times where

minutes didn't seem so heavy

that's what illness does

it extracts the poison from the system

and purifies you, until you heal
