Story poem

She stood before me proud and tall.

The wind kicked up, leaves fluttering around our feet,

not bothering us at all.

I stared at her, she glared at me.

Was this the ghost of Knickel Tree?

The folks in the village said she was a gruesome sight.

The harder I stared, I realized they may not be right.

Sure she looked fierce, her eyes a deep steely blue.

Her hair red as fire which the wind wildly blew.

Finally she spoke, I dared not say the first word.

She said, “You are trespassing on my land.”

”Your land!” Was my harsh reply.

She threatened to step closer, her long silken dress, green as emeralds they were.

I stood my ground,

my legs trembled so,

my mind chanted, “Run! Now go!”

Instead, I bowed and bid her praise.

She let out a boisterous laugh when I asked if I might stay.

With her hands on her hips, a smile on her face, “Yes lad yes, if you promise not to run away.”

My eyes widened with fear,

she placed a hand on my shoulder

”Now now, dear. You have nothing to fear. I’ll see to that.”

I relaxed a bit,

still not quite sure,

She laughed again which echoed across the land.

Then she said, “You are my friend. Besides who knows when you‘ll meet a Queen Fairy again!”

Story Girl CA- Caroline

Writing is my source of peace. I write short stories: memoirs, fiction, and on matters of the soul.

Writing could have been a career for me but I let it slip away. It’s never too late to start again. I hope you enjoy what you read here.
