The Prototype
A Replica Of Real Love
Meeting you
was astronomically potent
*
The first time we spoke
I felt it take over
*
Contentment of the soul
*
Like the day
I went to go see
the prototype
of the Starshade
in my friend's laboratory at JPL
*
I had seen a small origami model
he printed months earlier
but this was the real deal
*
The life-size version
of his paper invention
Mathematics in action
The prototype of his genius
*
The next form of this one
would fly out of this world
to assist the search for life beyond ours
*
An invention unlike any other
that preceded it's time
This was the future
of science
*
The morning was bright
Butterflies fluttered
beneath my bones
*
As I walked with my friends
to the Starshade laboratory
*
We approached
the folded flower
*
A propulsion system
tied up with strings
*
Each grasping an end
of it's folded wings
*
Happiness in our hearts
Silence in our souls
we slowly pulled apart
the petals
*
Unfurling the invention
it blossomed in all it's brilliance
*
Touching the prototype spacecraft
with fire in the middle
and petals on it's face
was an otherworldly honor
*
That's how I felt when
we first connected
*
It was exhilarating
*
An honor to touch
the otherworldly splendor
of your soul
*
If you're not the one
you are the prototype
