The poet by the water stands
Thinking by the rolling waves
Standing by the sea to hear yourself think, nice thoughts.
Thoughts that bring you down to earth.
Help you see the bigger picture and the speck of dust that is you.
Your thoughts, worries and nightmares.
Nice thoughts in a merry-go-round,
Off to-ing and fro-ing.
There and back forever.
And I stand,
Listening, feeling, rejoicing at my leaping heart.
My heart joins in and jumps for joy.
The joy to just be there
And witnessing the ancient rhythm
That has bathed us through time.
But always there when we need soothing,
If only they could tell us about past times
But could we hear them,
Would we listen.
Tell us about tomorrow we will not know.
Time just flies over us.
Gently as a life giving breath
restauring our humanity,
Helping us to be for a time what we are meant to be.
Resting by the sea for an hour
Or more is never a waste of time,
Makes it easier to walk on
And go along that long rocky beach that is life.
Sometimes our feet touch sand
And it is as a stroke of light, a glimpse of eternity.
When the rough for a time settles
And makes us better people.
About the Creator
Jeannine Kauffmann
Poetry writer in the early morning. Poetry as a wake up call. Then later I draw lines and colours. I have a page on Instagram my art other than words although it contains words too. Titles are important to finish a piece like a full stop.
