The Phoenix

A Story of Regrowth

Struggle,

Against the dark night,

Wrapped by tentacles of fright.

Struggle,

Through devilish spells

Whence they cry,

Struggle, struggle

From a thousand demons

Screaming words of despair:

Struggle, struggle

Towards a shimmer,

Found in yon’ crack.

Struggle, struggle, struggle-

To burn from desire.

Rise-

From the ash;

Burnt. By desire

Rise,

Ahead to march,

Blazing through the mire

Rise, Rise

From the ash:

Lead by miter

Rise, rise

Against the legions,

Rushing strong on battered walls

Rise-

Towards victory whole.

Claim land, anon;

Rise, Rise, Rise

Oh Phoenix!

Fly!

Towards freedom,

Earned through battle.

Fly!

Upward, and away.

Lean not against the witch doctor.

Fly, Fly

Above the clouds;

Over the oceans:

Fly, Fly

Towards lands unknown,

And people yet discovered, anon:

Fly, Fly, Fly

Oh Phoenix!

Listen,

Not to the depths.

Heed your own ear.

Listen,

To the virgin stream:

Gentle, wisdom flows.

Listen, Listen

Not, to despair.

Follow your desire.

Listen, Listen

For the songbird-

Her tail of hope, anon;

Listen,

Oh Phoenix!
