The Phoenix and the Ashes

The Yin and the Yang

Crackling flames and ashes, drawn by Em E. Lee in Clip Studio Paint

What polarity! What a blue moon!

Such opposite hands that are clasped together!

A pair you’d not expect to find so soon

But upon seeing you’d never want with any other.

He, the dull and harsh ashes of regret

Plus her, the phoenix of eternal flame.

You’d never think it was he she should select—

You’d think she believes that love is a game!

Pairs of the past would have you believing

That such a pair is but a dream!

It fuddles the mind, this pair you are seeing!

But, oh so perfect, they still do seem.

Because where would such a phoenix stand

Other than by the ashes she finds so grand?
