The Night I Fell in Love With You
As Published in 'Poetry Leaves'
The moon must’ve thought you were the sun.
It was so dull. Compared to you,
that dusty orb could’ve been anyone.
The moon must’ve thought, “You are the sun!”
and drifted; its pride wounded, stung.
Clearly, you were the preferred view.
It was so dull compared to you;
the moon must’ve thought you were the sun.
It was so dull compared to you;
the moon must’ve thought you were the sun.
I swear, that night its beams withdrew,
it was so dull compared to you.
I inched closer and you burned through
my sensibilities, my lungs…
The moon must’ve thought you were the sun.
It was so dull compared to you.
