They found her there
Deep
In a wildly whirling husk
Fractured hull overspread by frost
Wrenched asunder, thrusters long lost
***
They found her there
Hushed
Amid scrap, herbage, carcasses,
A ghastly flotsam entourage,
Mysterious frigate riddled
A graveyard spacecraft fraught with holes,
As from space stones
Or some bitterly bellicose barrage
***
They found her there
As they ranged thru the Cosmos Chill,
Across depths of Void unharmed
Evolved ages ahead
Warmed
By scales and frozen feathers
Life-Breath of the bird-like, Angel-like creatures
Remained unstolen by the great vacuum
In Space
***
… … They found her
There
The monitor was still illuminated
Spasmodically scintillating chamber
Glowing array of symbols displayed
Sealed in a cell yet unliberated
Interned behind opalescent glass
Tears frozen in her slumber
***
All about the outside of the glass
Danced blue flashes
As of bursts, wisps of plasma,
As cosmic particles collided with it impenetrable,
***
Intelligent creatures found her
There
As a Sleeping Beauty
Deep
In a wintry hypersomnia
A dormant seed behind a shell
Silently waiting to touch ground and blossom
***
So they took her,
This lost human girl,
Away, back to their abode
To the warm rivers
Of their verdant world.
