Looking through the rear-view

eyes are stinging as tears fall down

so many memories

so many broken dreams

so many special moments you can't get back

looking through the rear-view

wishing someone told you

how badly life could screw you

especially if you're young and stupid

they talked and you should have listened

to your mother, to you father, to your brother, or your sister

advice from your grandma, lectures from your grandpa

you tuned it out to proud to let it in your head

if you made better choices

things would have never turned out like this

You can't turn back

you can't slow down

stop looking back and turn around

your future's in front of you

your past behind you

no where to go but forward now

if you did things different

put in more effort

you would know where your going

why the hell didn't you bring a map

now your on an road no clue where to

no one left in the car to talk to

all alone

you can only blame yourself

no one told you where to go now

to scared to slow down

so instead your driving down the road hauling ass

do you just drive till you run out of gas

or do you pull on over

do you turn right or take a hard left

does it matter either way

if only you could turn back

go back home

lay your head down and sleep till noon

maybe then you wouldn't feel so alone

You can't turn back

you can't slow down

stop looking back and turn around

your future's in front of you

your past behind you

no where to go but forward now

Taillights shinning red

the sun getting low as it goes to bed

looking through the rear-view

all the things you thought you knew

all the things you thought you could do

without anybody or any help

so many things you wish you said

to the people who loved you

the people who tried to give you a helping hand

but you were hardheaded and young to understand

so many things you wish you did

advice you should have took

other routes you should have went

couldn't get it through your thick head

had to learn the hard way

there is always a toll to pay

admit your wrong and try again

looking through the rear-view

goodbye to the old you

that version of you is dead

You can't turn back

you can't slow down

stop looking back and turn around

your future's in front of you

your past behind you

no where to go but forward now

All the places that you went

all the things you should have said

missed opportunities

thrown away chances

drinking champagne from lemonade glasses

you made mistakes

you took wrong turns

but inside your soul the fire still burns

so stop looking back

turn around

take your lessons hard learned

and keep moving forward

don't turn back

the windshield is bigger that's a fact

You can't turn back

you can't slow down

stop looking back and turn around

your future's in front of you

your past behind you

no where to go but forward now

Stop looking in the rear-view

your future's in-front of you

you can't change what's already past

so roll the windows down

turn on the radio

put a little more weight on the gas

your future is in front of you

your past is behind you

but if you keep looking back

you'll miss the scenery before you

trying to not loose sight of what's in the back

heartbreak
