The Last Pick Up

A Poetic Errand In Shopping Rite

The Final Fence: Sophomores In The Saddle: A Story Not About But Living

The hardest thing for me to learn was

How to control that crazy buzz

It just grew and grew

Who knew?

Some said it had this glitzy golden shine

Worthy of an investment dime

Personality, photogenic hard to decline

Deeming newsworthy at the time

But what were those images having the credible modeling walk

Getting everyone to chitter chattering and talk

Diplomatic sources

Still studying high school courses

Or living breathing pawns

Honored a couple times on the political lawn

Perfectly placed on a magazine cover

Marketed as a fantasy lover

Were they ammunition in a peaceful war?

Sending a message while checking out at the grocery store

A final pick up enroute to the sliding exit door.

Thinking the public wants more

Is there a lesson here?

From the purchase protecting my dry goods from the beer

Do I have a relationship with this picture that is still?

Costing a couple bucks on my routine weekly errand bill

Let us take a serious look

Realizing I have everything I need to cook

About the picture that was the purchasing hook

It was an impulse buy

When settled in my driver’s seat I ask myself why

Until she came from the beauty salon

Goals were to be a loving Mom

A person who put me on her VIP list

Finding mutual enjoyment when we kissed

When she opened the passenger’s side

Ready to go home with me her guy

And once locked into this accepted domestic scene

I heard her scream

“You got me my magazine!!”

And that is when I learned a certain lesson

That is worthy for constant profession

Getting a good tip

Hinting for a long-lasting partnership

Working together writing the journey script

Finding realities and having a grip

In a life

Where a family and wife

Are priorities along with owning the property deeds

And tending to each other needs

That only breeds

Communication trust

No need for the luring lust

Let her enjoy all the gossipy tips

Feeling great there is someone in her life with honest lips

Who will always be there

Planning each and every wedding anniversary affair

Returning to the one with electrical flowing hair

Featuring a pictorial stare

Let her down with grace

After taking her from the sales place

Realizing you have enough sugar and spice

From the hometown girl who was nice

Especially hearing ‘I do’ when rolling the matrimony dice
