Everyone leaves,

At some point they move on from me,

At some point they’ve taken what they needed from me,

At some point they realize they don’t need me any more,

When they leave,

All that’s left behind is pain,

They take a piece of my happiness with them,

It’s all gone, love, happiness, kindness, laughter, tears, anger.

I’m empty.

They’ve plucked me bare,

I’m just a stump now,

Numb with nothing to offer,

Everyone leaves,

But not me,

I’m always here like the giving tree.
