The Firecracker

My own brown pride

Tell me I can’t and watch me prove to you that I can.

Tell me I won’t and watch me prove you that I will.

I was born to lead.

I was born to fight.

I grew up having to be brave.

I grew up having to be strong.

We had barely enough to eat.

We went without.

I may not be rich.

I may not have it all together

But I will rise when I fall

I will stand tall.

Not of pride, not of intimidation.

But for integrity and courage.

Poke the bear, hear me growl.

Strike the match, watch my fire ignite.

Pull the pin, watch me explode.

Interest my mind, and I’ll desire your heart.

Feed my soul and I’ll shower you with unconditional love.

This is my Brown Pride.
