On a day that the darkness crept
its icy touch chilling every inch of me.
The shades that marred me,
weakening me,
towards the point of no return.
When the choice of which path to choose
became too difficult that I
Sit and drift gently into that good night.
Years before, Heaven,
with the joyous sorrow of a mother,
Watches her babe leave home,
To start her life and bless all she met.
Then on that day this heavenly angel,
Was destined to shine light and help.
Offering rest to the weary soldier.
To get him back into the fight.
She would often go unnoticed.
But soon noticed she was,
Her almond skin,
Her eyes as oak,
And hair like the warm, welcoming earth.
From a smile to her warm kindness
The aurora of the angelic beauty warm and welcoming
Like coming home to a welcoming fire
on the coldest of winter nights.
Once I took notice
the darkness retreated a bit
but enough that I was able to kneel
then to stand and fight
for love and light.
