The father of lies

Dwelling in the shadows, lurking in the midst of the trees,

A deluded mind, a conspirator, in the narrows as he sees,

Territorial murderer, whose presence brings fear and fright,

A horrid carnal criminal, that hides himself at night,

Abandoned cottage, near the forest, dwelling by the river stream,

Chilling breeze, whispers of evil, darkness would surely deem,

The tormentor in the peak hour, Stalking at the stroke of midnight,

Spirit battles awaken without a trace or sight,

The afflictor of continued heartache, the voice of utter despair,

“Go on, give up, who would ever give a care?

Do you think you can endure any longer? Is there any reason to extend your length?

Can you persist through the fire, without any other strength?

Is there any hope for your vision, will you ever achieve your goal?

Can that wound ever be healed, or what you lost made whole?

Will you ever have a marriage, where she will ever care?

Will your lover ever find you, will he ever try to dare?

You’ve clearly lost your job, there’s clearly no other way,

How do you intend to strive, how do you intend to pay?

You’re foolish because of your failures,

You’re stupid because you opened up your heart,

You trusted him and allowed it,

She came and destroyed your heart,

You’re abandoned, lost, there is no other way to try,

For my power is of illusion, and you already believe the lie…”

The mocker in the pridelands, the tribe of rabid dogs,

Attacking groups, unclean raiders, deep within the swamp bogs,

With the roaring of a lion and the utterance to foretell,

The language of the devil, the prophecy of utter hell...

And yet, the irony of one so seemingly tall,

Is that pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit, before the fall…
