There is only one true enemy,
The bringer of all the fear,
The tears, the huddles of pain,
That only comes from him
You know the others want to help,
They care and seek to heal,
But they don’t know that all the pain,
Sleeps in the next street
The others are just as scared as you
But never towards him,
And even when you let them know
They won’t let harm befall him
There is only one true enemy,
The target of your hate,
The anger, the flaming wrath
That targets only him
The feeling of fear pervades you
Haunting every step you take
No one around you can be trusted
What if they’re the same?
He comes to you quite often
Pretending it’s all normal
But how can anything be right again
When he is just as awful
As the time that he decided
That you were now the target
When he became the enemy
After being who you trusted
There is only one true enemy
And that is only you
Who allows him to get away with it
For fear that he’ll come again for you
