This is a short poem dedicated to my father, Don, aka the Duck, who turned 81 this year, and is suffering from dementia. I love you Dad.
Memories.
Lonely corridors he wanders,
Not sure where he is.
History.
The place he lives,
As we fade from him.
Sadness.
To see a strong man,
Lost in a fog.
Time.
Has slipped away from him,
From us, even faster.
The Duck.
A father who loves us,
But rarely speaks.
Honour.
A man who has worked all his life,
So we could have better.
Remember.
Walking by his side,
So proud to be a duckling.
Oh Dad,
I will stand by your side,
Telling you I love you to the end.
