The Drumming Guardian
Beware once you hear the drumming, for you may have just sealed your fate
A soothing jungle lies soft and still,
Following the course of natures set will.
Keeping the rules means order is constant,
All of this comes by this gentle lieutenant.
But if anyone dares to rock his holy house,
He soon turns more savage than a corner bitten mouse.
Drumming soon follows with a heavy resound,
Letting intruders know; this is his ground.
Strangers soon learn of the soon said danger,
That comes from unleashing his pent up anger.
He will guard his domain no matter the wait,
sealing any unfortunate who dares tempt fate.
Those who leave are spared such horror,
And so is the life of a jungle restorer.

I love the rhythmic pacing of this poem. I especially liked ‘rock his holy house’ and ‘more savage than a corner bitten mouse.’
