The Colour Of Blush

Pretty in pink

The soft hue amongst the cloud as the sun rises,

Bringing hope upon a brand new day,

The palest vibrancy of a newborn’s puckered lips,

That scolds the doom from the darkest of grey.

***

The colour of blush upon a giddy schoolgirl’s cheeks,

As she grins up at you in adoration,

Highlighting her prettiness, her beautiful glow,

A sign of her happiness, her elation.

***

The palest of hues captured in a crystal of purity,

Worn around the neck to ward off negativity,

When painted on bedroom walls,

It heightens sensitivity.

***

The gorgeously dressed females who are pretty in pink,

Femininity and womanhood in all her glory,

The vibrant colour highlights the twinkle in her eye,

As evidence in every romantic story.

***

The darkened pigment of a blushing rose,

Or the pristine pastels of the pink wattle trees,

The colouring a delight and an advertisement

To the ever hardworking honey bees.

***

The brightness of a frangipani blossom,

As it rains a shower of blooms along the ground,

A scent that tickles many a nose,

Sneeze after sneeze as a cloud of pollen surrounds.

***

Pink tinged eyelids speak loudly of sorrow,

Of tears that have festered for way too long,

And a pink tipped nose screams of anguish,

Of the misery of a flu that has gone wrong.

***

Every hue of pink is utterly delightful,

The epiphany of happiness and joy,

Sure to bring a smile to many a face,

And the symbol of romance between girl and boy.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
