The Color Brown
It's not a common favorite among colors, but I love it - and this is why.
People often say that brown is an unpleasant color. Some associate it with dull, bleak, boring things.
But brown is one of my favorite colors.
I love the color brown. Brown is soft and cozy, like an old handmade quilt. It's warm and nostalgic, like a faint childhood memory.
When I think of brown, I think of the serenity of a quiet, warm summer night. Settling down and unwinding after a busy day, bundled in a blanket, reading a book on the sofa. Listening to the soft song of nature as it lulls you to sleep.
Brown is the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. The taste of piping hot cocoa in a mug. The sound of an old feel-good song.
It's like an old photograph - a portal, almost, to the times where one could count their age on their fingers, the days of fun-filled nonsense and carefree times, when one could look forward to each coming day without a worry in the world.
And that is why I love the color brown.

It Only Took One Minute.......
It only took a minute. I was sitting at the computer in my office when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and then laid it down my desk as I went to find the student who the call was for. Within seconds I was back at my desk, ready to resume typing, when I heard the student yelling obscenities at me for listening in to his call through the handset that was still lying on the desk. Sick and tired of the lies he was spewing, I was up running down the hall, ready to kill him. By the time I reached him, I had calmed enough not to hurt him, but as I turned back towards my room, I knew that I couldnβt go on like this any longer. The decision was clear. I had to leave.

A CLOSE ENCOUNTER
Stars twinkled brightly in a moonless sky, reflecting in the calm waters of Lake George in the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York. It was a warm August night, as we laid back in the boat, marveling at the magnificent Milky Way. Dark skies made the stars more brilliant at this time of year, especially during a new moon, causing wonder and enchantment. We never tired of stargazing while floating on water, a truly immersive experience.
