The Boundless, Untameable Sea: Poetry in Motion

She makes no apologies for her strength.

The sun scorches from over-head

As each minuscule grain of sand attaches itself to my feet.

Towel still blessedly cool beneath me

Wicking away the beads of sweat as they form on the surface of my skin.

Gulls calling to one another,

To the seas for another meal,

To the family beside me in hopes, they’ll bestow another handful of greasy French Fries.

~

The still frigid ocean sends her waves ever closer

Frothy sea foam tickling my toes as I near her

Waves crash and roll relentlessly

One misstep and make no mistake, she’ll draw you in

Waves breaking overhead,

Millions of tiny bubbles in every direction.

Light and darkness both seemingly come from above and below

As you tumble beneath the roiling waters.

Gather your strength and kick, but which way is up?

~

At low tide, she’ll leave so many treasures to be found

Yet when at her peak she makes no apologies for her strength.

Her power is such that she can leave no trace as she’s forever in motion,

Always in control.

The unforgiving yet majestic seas.

~

Fluid though she may be,

As quiet and submissive, as a single pail of her contents may be

She is still a force unlike any other.

Ebbing and flowing in her ceaseless cycles.

Yet never diminished in strength for she knows who she is

What she is.

The strength she possesses

Though mere mortal men may seek to tame or control

She will never cease to be the boundless, untameable sea.

Really wonderful imagery that had me feeling like I was right there at the beach. Beautiful work :)

This is really very good. Your words flow together beautifully to create an aura and illusion of the frolicking sea.
