Comfort is...

Just the right pillow to lay your head

a cozy blanket

you wrap yourself in

sitting by a fire

while the air chills outside

Food that soothes

as it nourishes

but also reminds of childhood

things you grew up with

cold noodles with milk and sugar

soup that was made by mother

Fuzzy slippers offering warmth

not only for the body

heart, soul

When you take a trip

somewhere new or back home again

revives like fresh air

makes you feel alive,

conjures up nostalgia

Home again. Home IS comfort.

Isn't it? A place you unwind, feel at ease

Be yourself

It's an embrace that takes you by surprise

somehow you needed

you don't know why - it just feels right

A friend calls out of the blue

You see a face that you've longed for

A smile, a laugh, sound

of a voice sparking joy - keeps your heart steady

Comfort is soup for your soul

the tiniest thing

when you stop and notice

because if you don't, you'll miss the

nanosecond when

Smell triggering memories

Pine trees that bring me back

to the Northern country

the peace of pristine lakes

I crave and strive for - tranquility

how a whiff can lift you

appease, release - breathe, just breathe

This is comfort

As feet in the sand

at the beach no one else stands

waves crash, lapping against stones

when they pull back in chorus

the orchestra is such comfort

and sun rays shoot magnificently

illuminating boulders

paint ancient rocks

in sherbert tones

nothing could be more

perfect

in that moment

the light, the smell, sounds

time standing still

i feel comfort-able

in my skin

just then.
