Sympathy Is for the Weak

What makes you feel complete?

Why are you so sad all the time?

Why can’t you get those same things off your mind?

By now you should have been fine

The clock is ticking and all you’ve been doing is lying in your bed, lying to your head

Dying? No you are death

If you keep crying, you’ll drown all of us instead

We can only keep up with so much

Bitter taste of love rolling off your tongue

Please just take your drugs and be quiet

Since you want us to get used to your silence

You think we hate you but it’s not like that

Sometimes we have to escape you before we also get upset

Contagious like the plague, you’ll wipe out all of us

You manifest your dread and empathy grabs a hold of us

Chokes us like you would

But some of us see more than this

Some of us have called it quits

Gave our demons a notice

And it wasn’t easy

No no that shit makes me queasy just thinking of it

We get your reasons but you’re living what we don’t miss

Let us leave them

On your own you’ll have to deal with

The darkness, it’s your home

You have to choose to move out of it

You won’t get evicted just because you wished it

You have to predict it

You have to commit to it

You have to keep on trying

Yes you’ll fail if you keep on relying on other people to validate you

“Oh I’m so depressed someone like me to change my mood!”

Let yourself digest that your feelings are being used

But no not from the people who comment

“oh poor you!!!”

I hope in this moment you realize the truth

You are your only opponent

This is not a team game

You’re only ending up alone because you’re accepting the wrong fate

Listen to your soul, not those thoughts on repeat

You are what controls you to be free

Using others sympathy is for the weak
