Rise or snooze

The morning dew sits sparkling on the blades of grass.

Birds are singing their songs on nearby trees as squirrels forage for food below.

The sun starts to rise on the horizon.

Sunlight hits my window, streaming through the undrawn curtains.

I stir reluctantly from my slumber disturbed by this rude awakening.

Rise or snooze. My mind debates.

The sunlight starts to move closer. Snoozing is not looking like a viable option.

I continue to lie in my bed, reluctant to leave the warmth of the covers.

I remind myself not to believe the next cloudy weather forecast. Finally, the debate is over.

It's time to rise and start the new day.
