Cool twilight summer breeze

Singing singing singing

Free

When we pass the pond

The frogs get really loud

Like a chorus of praises

Or a crowd

There’s a pile of us

In the back of a truck

Suntanned skin and wild hair

Getting lost on country roads

The moon is our guide

And the explosions in the sky

Set off by patriots

They’re still among us

My heart sings with the frogs

Joyfully

Others are with me

Seeing what I see

It’s as refreshing as a bomb pop

On my tongue

To hear you say what I thought

It’s been four months

We’ve all changed

Wounded but we’re here

That’s why we sing louder tonight

We finally understand the fight
