Storm

This was inspired by a storm that I watch while I was on holiday a few years ago, I love how moody the sky can look when the weather is bad so wanted to capture not only the feeling of a storm with it being both fearful and energizing but also the colours and dark moods it can encourage in a poem.

Clouds of murky black with undertones of deep purple and blue, that twist and spiral over echoing valleys where no morning sunlight of the day shines down upon the mountain tops or costal views, as the winter storm tightens it's grip confusing daylight with night.

Lights from house windows brighten the street as the rain and wind howl their shrill tale, battering down across the slate roofs and rushing though the street as the unforgiven moaning of a hurricane, rages its way towards any target before it, all the while lightening strikes the otherwise darkened daylight sky, sudden flashes of bright blue light that strike through the twisting clouds illumintating the hillsides and houses lost in villages within the valley below the sky, echoing claps of thunder that scatter though the air with never ending hail stones hit across the ground, bouncing through the bracken like bullets rushing from the murky clouds above rattling down bruising anything in their path.

And as the storm rages on with the clouds thicken once again, no break for this winter storm that darkens day to night as the only light is from sudden flashes that spread out and scatter through the clouds with a mighty booming sound that fills fear to any brave soul, yet all the while thunderous hail stones rush to any surface and threaten the slates upon the roofs.
