“It’s only one straw," said 8 billion people.
We live as though
We have another place to go.
When in reality we’re losing our only home.
You might have a plan b
Or have taken plan b,
But Earth doesn’t have a plan b.
You might like being choked,
But the sea turtles don’t.
You might think the plastic bag look is in this season,
But the dolphins say you’re guilty of treason.
Plastic surgeons? They’re out of style.
We get our plastic through eating the fish that was in the water.
Maybe jaws should’ve been named straws.
Everybody is too focused on saying YeEhAw,
Instead of showing that the government is corrupt.
Small changes eventually lead to huge results.
So say no to plastic,
It’ll be good for your soul.
They say nothing lasts forever,
Except plastic
That shit lasts forever.
There is no such thing as “away”,
Everything we throw “away”
Has to go somewhere.
Somewhere is our home.
We’re so intelligent
That we’ve destroyed our only home.
We’re so clever
That we’ll cut down a tree,
Turn it into paper,
Then write, “save the trees” on it.
Ruining the Earth has been our biggest mistake,
A mistake that will cost us all our lives.
This isn’t a hippie thing,
Or some “only the strong will survive”.
This is our reality.
This is our only home.
“Can I really make a difference?” said 8 billion people.
