Stockholm Syndrome
Comfort in Chains
The taste of freedom
was pungent
an acquired taste
:
An unfamiliar flavor
A texture they could not masticate
:
Tickling their pallette
in a way they could not relate
Something that didn't align
with their current state
:
A foreign flavor made them
resistant to change their ways
:
Neurons registered it
as something to hate
Something to berate
:
Something too difficult to digest
Something unworthy for them to taste
:
So they spat out the hash
and never looked back
:
Swiftly
rejecting to enjoy
it's entirety
to it's finish
less savor the flavor
:
They were rather comfortable
eating candy-coated hot trash
because it
had a familiar taste
dressed in a familiar label
:
After a lifetime sentence in prison
sometimes the newly freed prisoner
will just lay back down in the cell
once you remove the chains
:
Comfortable in what is known
despite how it degrades
