No More Anxious Attachment

She often dreamed of falling in love.

Not the kind of being swept off her feet, but one that allowed her to feel comfortable planting her feet on the ground.

She did not need to be swept up again as her mind was often in the clouds.

She dreamed of a love that would act as an anchor when she felt she was going to be swept away in the rough seas of life.

Too often people romanticise that quick explosion of passion- being bombed and left with nothing to cling on to when the fire has long been put off.

She wanted a love that wrapped her up in a warm blanket, slipped a cup of hot tea in her hands on the cold nights.

A love that was like the morning coffee on a lazy Sunday, giving her a slight buzz as she sat on her balcony in the sunshine; not worrying about rushing off anywhere.

A comfortable silence, an unguarded conversation.

Love free of landmines, eggshells and broken glass.

No, she wanted that kind of boring love that does not get written about in movies.

Some call her boring, some say that kind of love is lacking- but she did not care.

When you have been battered by the winds and the waves.

When you have been bombed and left to pick up the pieces.

When you have felt yourself starting to float away, having the ground ripped up from you.

True love, that real love she wants, that stable, boring, safe love-

It feels like home.
