Moisture clings to my skin
latching onto every square-inch
until all of me is covered and drenched
in honeysuckle-sucking days of Lent
Spring looms on the horizon
Hot and sultry with suffocating breath
that smells of young violets
Humidity pulls at the ends of my curls
like a game of Tug of War
Dew-speckled grass grown above my kneecaps
tickles and teases and itches for play
as wisteria blooms and stretches across the archway
Rain raps on the roof and the sizzling pavement
turning to mist that creates fog-infested riverbanks
April has cast her wretched love spell once more
Consider yourself duly warned
