Fighting
The currents
That pull me down.
Below the surface,
I slip.
*
I can't
Swim against
The currents that
Pull me farther out -
Slipping.
*
Ceaselessly,
Treading the water
That threatens to claim me.
Fighting.
*
Barely,
I hold out
Against the currents,
Keeping up the pace.
*
But I can't keep
Swimming against
These currents that threaten,
Pulling me farther away
From solid ground.
*
Beneath my feet -
The abyss.
*
Endlessly,
Treading the water
That threatens to claim me.
*
Swimming
Against the currents
That threaten
To pull me farther out.
*
Only occasionally -
Slipping below the surface.
