Simple heart

In the midst

Of a rather mystical place

An unexpected riddle

arose from the stones

An ancient pendulum

Resting above

Timeless

Which, when unwound, belied a truth

Either forgotten, or undiscovered

time

As we know it

In its own fragile measure

Was created by the rhythmic heartbeat

Of one man

centuries ago

Galileo Galileo

And in that most generous present moment

my own heart stills

and I am reminded of the magic

of the place in your heart where I live

of the place in my heart where you live

And how fleeting this time is

Ever odd, dimensional, forgotten,

Lost like treasure buried in the sands of the ancient pasts

impermanent

And the pendulum,

Whose amplitude ever so quietly slows

meets the rhythm of my heart

In its coherence with yours
