Showerhead Rain

Trying to keep this moment forever

Showerhead rain, clear on skin and crimson in hearts

Melodious strings of emotion on harps

Pulled to the scorch of a safety net

Burning away below us

As glassy silver droplets pool

In reservoirs so temporary

They feel like a desperate fool’s attempt

To pause the world’s infinity

***

Nozzle on the end of a pipe

Dividing up the stream

Into a hundred immediate ways

To remember everything

***

A lightness washes over us

Reflected off the granite floor

Like waterfalls on natural stone

As steam progresses out the door

***

The slowly fogging mirror blurs impressions of the self

Away from cold reflections of the burdens on our health

Our lips are pressed together like a dagger to the skin

Cutting up reminders of the lonely men we’ve been

And never again may the water cool

To make our bodies shiver

Pressed together in endless union

Melting the icy river

***

Showerhead rain, clear on skin and cyan in hearts

Melodious strings of emotion on harps

Pulled to the scorch of a safety net

Burning away below us

As glassy silver droplets pool

In reservoirs so temporary

They feel like a happiness-fueled attempt

To keep the love’s infinity
