She said she loved my smile
A collection of three poems
She said she loved my smile
the Canadian said—
I had a beautiful smile—
she said I see you and—
you’re so gaddam bright she said—
I radiate so much dam light
—she said
Thank you for reminding me—
I am so goddam happy I am—
grateful
Happy, I am
I am happy
escorted by the night herself
we got lost
held softy by the indigo blanket
un-constricted our fingers tangled
and our hearts
they never break
look at ours and you’ll see that they are whole
just like us
we are complete
when alone
we can cheer from the sides of each others lives
safer there than on the frontline
just as the night ends
we do
as the sun rises, smile
back at the world
for it will always smile for you
Separate the entities
From the everyday mundane to the exceptional extremities
Can you make the distinction between my soul and my skin
I am seperate from this wasteland, the one I’m rotting in.
A landscape you once so delicately explored
You’ve left it torn up and viscously ignored
As fascial connections lose grip and dissolve
My decaying sheath prepares to evolve.
Leave it all behind, like a serpent does their skin
This precious laced sheath no longer fits
Outgrown and outworn
Unhinged threads have been pulled and torn.
Put me back into the earth
Turn me over into the ground down dirt
I declare my offering to the divine
This borrowed vessel is no longer mine.
