Share the Toothpaste
A poem by ED 6/14/22
An equal exchange is a mind for a heart
Or a soul for a soul, but for only a part?-
Why would anyone make such a deal
So unfair, could that offer even be real?
But to trade a house for a home
What a steal, take the beer with no foam
Or the pottery with no cracks in its side
Like the home’s foundation beautiful outside
And in, set in stone, what a win
Find the wife with no egregious sin
Staining her soul once blessed with purity
Take the husband who understands surety
Is his duty and honor and cross to bear
And rosaries of gold and pearl he will wear
On his heart, which he gives freely to his wife
The one who, with love and confidence, bears life
She keeps no secrets, no pleasure to herself
Of the apostles, she would rank twelfth
A godly woman, her virtues abound
She’s more than only “worth keeping around”
Now a question befuddles my mind
You won’t share the toothpaste, exactly what kind
Of man would betrothe himself to you
If that tiny sacrifice for him isn’t the least you would do?
About the Creator

Hopeful and young, full of love. From my heart high praises are sung. For this reason I am here: to love and serve and bring all souls near. <3
