she saw them in surf club
she saw them in a youth hall
she saw them in a rough pub
she saw them at a society ball
she saw them under Unusual Circumstances
only because they were placed higher on the bill for that show
so now she's sits here every night
comped house drink in hand
she's off her face but not so out of place
she's got a mean scene tan
it's like she’s been here sitting
every single night,

since nineteen seventy three
but she doesn't look a day over twenty ...

sell yourself to it complete and whole
and be prepared to live
by the terms of the deals that you make.
so now she just sits there
so very close to the stage and the band
the music makes her young again
she's got a mean scene tan
