Saint Christopher
a poem for a lost soul
whispers of the boat man echo through the golden birches
afternoon light awakes his attention to create,
splendour are the ones
dipped in chocolate and coated with the
fickle dust of their youth -
they resurrect and the
boat man drops lines in
hoping for Halibut, disastrous of all fates
he sings;
'another day here means another wish granted'
he kisses the ring of Saint Christopher, the wandering soul
and up he pulls the lines
strong, he remembers
everything his grandfather taught him,
out in the golden sea.
