Riding the Carousel of Life
It Just Keeps Spinning!!!
We start our life in this world helpless,
There is no memory of our early years,
Why do we come in like a blank page?
As children we absorb our surroundings,
Learning all we can,
Our brains forever increasing our knowledge base,
By the time we’re teens we know everything there is to know,
Our inner struggles rival those learned in history class
Early and mid-twenties slam us into reality,
Nothing is easy and everyone struggles,
We’re left wondering “where’s the party life?”
A decade later you begin to realize a frigid truth,
You’re all that you have,
Parents pass and family grows distant,
Children grow soon having their own families,
True friends are few and far between
Love plays your emotions like a yo-yo,
While in mid-life crisis will rain down like comets,
Keeping yourself above water is a challenge
Eventually a calm settles over your life,
Life looks different,
Your family is full of love and strength,
The knowledge you’ve acquired is now wisdom to share,
Although life is full your mind still has questions
As the end nears we begin to forget our life,
We slowly get erased but why?
The question is always there
No answer has been discovered, will we ever know?
Know why we lose our memories and ourselves just to start again?
Time after time this cycle charges us at the gate,
Feels awful steep in price for a ride we won’t remember,
Perhaps, a future ride will be worth the price of admission
