Respect for the Dead

Step outside your selfish head

Show some respect for the dead

Not for the lewd, funny, or crass

Offer up a high, solemn mass

Touch the stones of old

Break through the plated gold

Stop smiling, no need for joy

Flirting with Death is not so coy

Maybe instead of the whorehouse

With charity, visit the poorhouse

Modern ditties cannot compare

Ancient war songs don’t put on airs

Take your eyes off the floor, child

Lift them to the sky, reviled

By Nature’s curse of nature

Unimpressed by ancient nomenclature

Look forward to nothing more

Than tickling base whims, the whore.

Very refreshing but also restoring, I feel like I can go on with my day with a new perspective and picked up by this short read
